FROSTS Garden Centre is preparing to host its annual Chilli Festival this weekend (August 16 and 17) for those that like it hot.
The Willington shop and nursery will feature 30 stalls, musical entertainment, a free children?s chilli hunt and a chilli sauce making competition.
On Saturday, traditional Mexican Mariachi band, Mariachi Los Charros, will be taking to the stage, with Los Musicos lined up to entertain the Sunday crowds with their Latino sounds.
Amateur chefs are also invited to enter their best homemade chilli sauces, chutneys, jams and pickles into the chilli recipe competition. ?50 is on offer to the winner, as well as the prestigious title of 2014 Chilli Recipe Champion for Frosts at Willington.
Visitors will also be able to purchase over 25 varieties of chilli plant including Bhut Jolokia, Trinidad Scorpion, Morouga Red, Cornish Naga, Brain Strain and Scotch Bonnet, with experts on hand to give advice.
James Frost, managing director at Frosts, said: ?The chilli festival started as a very small event five years ago and it has now become a very popular attraction and continues to grow each year. This year will be fantastic and we are confident it will blow the roof off! People can spend as long as they like soaking up our live music while perusing our vast range of chilli products, plus this year we have lots more for children to get involved with.?
