?8m Barton Grange leisure complex building work begins

by | May 24, 2017 | News | 0 comments

Building work for an ?8m leisure venue, which includes a three-screen cinema, restaurants and an ice rink is beginning at Barton Grange. Named the ?Flower Bowl?, the a multi-purpose complex, is to be built at Brock on the A6 near Garstang, and will create more than 80 jobs. The centre will also include luxury Ten Pin Bowling, an all-weather crazy golf course and two golf simulators. The Flower Bowl will be a single storey building with a grass roof, which might eventually have sheep grazing on it.

The groundworks began at the start of May exactly ten years on from when Barton Grange Garden Centre was built. Barton Grange chairman, Eddie Topping, and seven of his grandchildren cut the first turf using the world?s largest spade, just as they did a decade ago. An opening date has been set for Spring 2018. As well as bringing 80 jobs to the area, Barton Grange MD Guy Topping says it will bring ?much needed entertainment and leisure facilities to the area?. The curling rink will be only the second in the country and it is hoped a centre of excellence will be built to train local curlers as well as future Olympians.
