Bonningtons set to celebrate 50th Anniversary with Open Showroom Event

In 2017 Bonningtons, the Nottingham based importer and distributor of gardening, home and leisure goods, celebrates 50 years of trading, and is to mark this milestone with a spectacular Open Showroom Event running from 5?? 14?September 2017.

With around 2,500 products warehoused in the UK, Bonningtons supplies a broad spectrum of businesses, from high street retail chains, garden centre groups and independent retailers, right through to cash and carry wholesalers, large internet retailers and trade professionals.

In 2016 Bonningtons was named one of the UK?s fasting growing SME?s, and in 2017 was listed in the London Stock Exchange Group?s 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain.

Sales director, Sergio Tartaglia, said:??Bonningtons has achieved a great deal in 50 years, and continues to innovate and grow in a difficult climate.? We wish to celebrate our success with all customers, old and new, and invite them to a special Open Showroom Event.? All visitors will be given the VIP treatment and offered very special promotional prices on any order placed during the day.?

A brief history of Bonningtons

Paul Fisher founded the company in 1967 with nothing more than ?200 cash and a telephone.? The first premises was an old bakehouse in the village of Sutton Bonnington, Leicestershire, and the first items Paul bought and sold were hosepipe and rubber sheeting.? Through sheer hard work and determination, Paul grew the business over the years, moving into larger premises where the company could manufacture its own products to gain more control in the industry, and by 1979 it was manufacturing 80% of the total products supplied.? As Paul continued to grow the company, he began exhibiting at the NEC, Birmingham, and broke into the European market.

In 2001 Paul?s son, Ian Fisher, joined the business and began importing products from China under the brand name Kingfisher.? Ian quickly identified which products would sell best, and expanded the range to include garden tools and watering products, garden sundries and accessories, solar lighting, greenhouses and garden games resulting in a rapid increase in turnover.? In 2007 the need to address the seasonality of the business led to the acquisition of a catering disposables company and the birth of Kingfisher Catering. Soon new ranges of heating, housewares and bird care were introduced too.

New Bonningtons

The company recently rebranded and launched 1000 new products and 6 premium brands at Glee 2016.? The rebrand was built around the company?s three core values ? Integrity, Quality and Trust ? and the repositioning has enabled the Company to develop new sales channels.

On the rebrand, managing director, Ian Fisher, said: “We have achieved year on year growth by identifying Simply Great Products.? The next stage in our development was to provide more quality brands and develop new customer channels.? The rebrand enabled us to develop new products that complement the existing Kingfisher ranges, and to build trade relationships with new customers and markets which were previously inaccessible, without damaging our core Kingfisher customer base.?

The 50th Anniversary Open Event will take place at the Bonningtons Head Office in Nottingham, from 5?? 14?September 2017.

To book a place, telephone the Sales Team on 0115 985 4119.
