Loyal B&Q employee, Craig Black is celebrating 30 years? service with the DIY-giant after beginning his career at the tender age of 19.
The 49-year-old from Edinburgh, who is a sales floor advisor in the retailer?s Hermiston Gait branch in Edinburgh, began working for the company in 1985 when he took a part time weekend job at the Murrayfield store.
After several years at the store in various different roles, Craig moved around B&Q?s Craigmillar and Longstone branches, before finally finding his niche working behind the scenes and travelling across the region where he was an integral part of the team which? managed store transformations.
Craig returned to the shop floor at Hermiston Gait and has been dazzling customers with his DIY knowledge for the past four years.
Craig says the best thing about working for B&Q is that every day is different.
He said: ?I try and keep everything fresh, I like to challenge myself and working for B&Q certainly helped me do that! My time working behind the scenes on store transformations was probably the most rewarding. I enjoyed travelling to new stores and meeting new people, which is why the shop floor also works well for me. Meeting customers and helping them bring their DIY dreams to life is also extremely gratifying.?
As for the future, Craig is happy to look ahead. He says, ?I?m happy to keep working as long as I?m still enjoying what I do. B&Q has been such a big part of my life and I?ve formed so many close friendships. I?m very grateful for the opportunities my job has given me and am proud to say that I?ve remained loyal to B&Q throughout my working life.?
