Bradford garden centre appoints York business for leadership training

A Bradford garden centre has invested to equip its team with leadership and management skills in preparation of an ambitious growth phase.
The people and culture team at Tong Garden Centre has partnered with Alex Firmin from York business, Promethean Executive to create a bespoke training programme for its future leaders and managers, focused on helping them be ‘Great By Nature’.
Head of people and culture, Neil Barwise-Carr, has worked with Firmin in the past: “Alex has an excellent reputation for creating and delivering practical modules which help individuals focus on their own leadership strengths, whilst developing self-awareness as a leader.
“They (Promethean) use the principles of psychology to explain behaviours and allow leaders to develop greater empathy and emotional intelligence that benefits the whole team. This is exactly what we need as we prepare to open our second and subsequent sites.”
Tong Garden Centre’s head of marketing, Jo Dales was one of the first to experience the training: “This programme has already given us a great insight into our personal leadership styles and how we can work better together.
“Leading our teams in a dynamic business that is growing ambitiously is an exciting challenge and is very much a part of the cultural shift in the way we have operated over recent years. I’m proud to work for a business that invests passionately in its team.”
Alex Firmin says: “Tong is an extremely exciting business, and the team at Promethean is delighted to work with such a fast growing Yorkshire company. We look forward to helping managers build their leadership skills so they can create and lead high performing teams to take the business forward to multiple sites.”
