The UK’s largest family-owned garden centre chain will be running several events for Garden Re-Leaf Day on 24 March.
British Garden Centres has announced a series of nationwide activities ahead of the annual fundraising event, which was set up by charity Greenfingers in 2012.
Its Tring Garden Centre will host a sponsored ‘South Walk and Cycle’, where participants can walk 10 or 20 miles through Chiltern’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, or cycle 25, 50, 75 or 100 miles, all ending up at Tring.
There will also be a range of fundraising events taking place across its 62 stores, including tombolas, cake sales, treasure hunts, raffles and car washes.
British Garden Centres’ director Boyd Douglas-Davies, a Greenfingers trustee and founder of Garden Re-Leaf Day, says: “British Garden Centres has raised over £13,243.05 from Garden Re-Leaf Day in 2022, helping hundreds of families get respite and relaxation in magical outdoor spaces when they need it most.
“This year, we hope to beat that total with every store taking part on the day. Our dedicated and hardworking garden centre teams have come together to create a thriving day of activities and fundraising events across the country for Garden Re-Leaf – now the biggest charity fundraiser on the gardening calendar. Every penny makes a huge difference to those that use Greenfingers-funded gardens, so we are looking forward to the start of the gardening season, raising money with some fun activities and increasing awareness of the work Greenfingers do with our customers in-store.”
