Burford Garden Company win Taylors Bulbs display competition

Burford Garden Company has won the national Taylors Bulb Bulbland competition. Presented with the Bulbland trophy, a cheque for ?200, a certificate and a glass plaque, Burford buyer Glen Sheldrake said ‘We are delighted to have won the Taylors Bulb Bulbland Competition, our bulb display takes a great deal of time and effort to plant, set up and maintain. However, winning the award has made all of our efforts really worthwhile.’

National runner-up was awarded to Melbricks Garden & Leisure, who had won the competition for the previous two years but were denied the hat-trick by Burford’s stylish use of silk flowers and other display props.

Certificates were also awarded for excellent bulb displays to Christies of Fochabers (Scotland), Tavernspite Garden Centre (Wales), Ribblesdale Plant Centre (North England), Planters Garden Centre (Midlands) and Garsons of Fontley (South England.

A Special Community Award was presented for the first time to Palmers Gardens along with a ?100 donation from Taylors Bulbs. WOrking with the Shaw Trust (a national organisation who aim to enable disabled and disadvantaged people to achieve their potential in work opportunities). Palmer Gardens created a ‘Willy Wonka Bulb Factory’ display.
