There was no beating about the bush when a Greenock primary school asked Cardwell Garden Centre for help.
The bosses at the garden centre, near Gourock, immediately agreed to supply apple and plum trees, blueberry and blackberry bushes, along with compost to youngsters at King?s Oak School.
The King?s Oak Parent Circle had contacted Cardwell asking for bushes and trees they could plant in their new garden project in the school playground.
Staff from Cardwell visited the school to help youngsters plant the trees and bushes.
Jackie Thomson, secretary of the King?s Oak Parent Circle, said: ?We?re trying to make the outside area at the school a better and more interesting place. Creating a garden that the kids can get involved in by planting things and watching them grow was one of our ideas.
?We?re very grateful to Cardwell Garden Centre for donating the trees, bushes and compost.?
Paul Carmichael, Cardwell?s retail general manager, said: ?I?m sure the kids will learn a lot from and enjoy their new garden area.
?We?re a big part of the local community and like to help out whenever we can.?
