Cobbins Nursery receives ?650K for expansion

Cobbins Nursery in Ferring has received funding from Lombard, Natwest and the Government?s RHI to build a ?650,000 biomass boiler and more glass houses.

The boiler was installed in the Autumn to replace ageing oil and coal boilers, and this will allow Cobbins Nursery ? who specialise in plants that require heat ? to fill the nursery with more stock through the winter. Building will soon begin on the glass houses that will extend the growing space by 5000 sq m.

The Sussex nursery supplies most of the major garden centre chains and buying groups and has been operating at capacity for the last 4 years. Cobbins managing director George Lisher told Garden Centre Retail that the new biomass boiler and glass houses will allow the nursery to increase their supply to their current clients, and to supply to even more garden centres.
