Coles Nurseries Gain CPD Accreditation for Training in Plant Selection

Coles Nurseries have gained CPD accreditation for their course ?An Awareness of the National Plant Specification (NPS)?.

The course, which has been run by Coles for the past five years as an NVQ Qualification, gives participants an overview of the various criteria used in plant specification, e.g. girth, height and pot size, and the situations where each are applicable.

The purpose of the training is to save participants time when tendering and ordering plants by setting clear, defined parameters for suppliers to adhere to, and receiving like for like quotes in return. Participants will gain knowledge and confidence in accurately planning planting densities and numbers, estimating handling, transport and storage costs and selecting appropriate stock for any situation.

Example; a two metre hedging plant in a 10 litre pot won?t create an instant hedge nearly as well as a two metre plant in a 45 litre pot, but if only the height of the hedge is specified, the customer won?t know what to expect on site!

Coles are offering the training, which can take place either at their nursery or at the candidate?s offices, to CPD registered practices across the UK. Candidates are able to pick and choose from a list of topics the areas they would like to cover during the session.

For those organisations that are not CPD registered, full day training sessions are also available at the nursery. Accredited to NVQ level 2, the training is ideal for anyone involved in plant ordering, handling or installation at all levels.
