From weddings to birthdays, Dodds Designer Florist in Market Street, Ulverston has helped customers celebrate the important events in their lives since 1998. But now manager Ros Harrison has marked an important milestone of her own after she decided to shut up shop and move the business to two new locations.
Dodds will now be based at Hill Foot Garden Centre where Mrs Harrison will be working alongside her dad John Dodd, who owns the centre and has been in the gardening business since 1966.
But Dodds will retain a presence in the heart of Ulverston thanks to a new town centre collection point in Ulverston Market Hall, where customers can buy and order flowers to be delivered.
The market stall was officially opened last week by Councillor Helen Irving, the mayor of Ulverston.
Mrs Harrison said: ?It?s quite a big thing, it?s a big move but it is a positive move. It?s exciting because it?s a new chapter.
?We moved into Ulverston nearly 20 years ago. I only realised when I looked at the deeds and I thought: ?Really, have we been here that long???
?Everyone on the market has been so friendly and welcoming, it?s amazing. I love the market atmosphere.
?It?s been going really well and people have been able to find us which is good news.
?We only had about 24 hours to set everything up but it went really well and people seem to like it.
?It?s businesses as usual and we?re going from strength to strength.
?Working with dad is really good and hopefully he can step back a bit as the weeks go on, but we won?t retire him just yet.?
Cllr Irving was the first official customer at the new market stall.
She said the new addition was a positive move for the town?s market: ?It looks so colourful and it just hits you as you walk in. It means we haven?t got any empty market stalls so it?s great news.?
