Rose lovers are invited to celebrate this English garden favourite at a special festival being held at Millbrook Garden Centre in Gravesend this month (June, 2014).
The Millbrook Rose Festival is being held from Wednesday, June 18 until Sunday, June 29.
Matthew Upton, Manager of Millbrook Garden Centre, which is located on Station Road in Southfleet, said: ?We?re really looking forward to hosting the Rose Festival here at the garden centre again.
?It was a really popular event last year so we hope lots of people come along to be ?wowed? by our Rose displays and use this event to learn more about Roses and pick up some top tips on growing them.
?A Rose expert from Whartons Roses will be giving a free, hour long talk on growing and looking after Roses on Saturday, June 21 at 2pm where customers can ask Rose related questions and even bring along struggling specimens for expert diagnosis and advice.? As well as the Wharton Rose specialist, our knowledgeable staff will also be available throughout the week to chat to customers and give advice.?
Millbrook are also pleased to feature the ?Rosy Cheeks? Rose; a new variety introduced to help raise money for the Greenfingers, Rosy Cheeks appeal which raises money to build gardens at children?s hospices across the UK.? This Candy Pink Rose has been bred by Noack Rosen and hand selected by leading growers, Whartons Roses.? ?1 of the purchase price of each ?Rosy Cheeks? Rose will be donated directly to the Rosy Cheeks appeal.
There will be Rose related activities going on throughout the week and visitors will also have the chance to enter a Rose-themed quiz during the festival. ?Entry to the quiz is free with a chance to win a Rose. In addition, Rose loving members of the Millbrook loyalty programme, the Millbrook family, will be able to take advantage of Rose related offers including 15% off all Roses during the Festival.
The Millbrook family loyalty programme is free to join and has been designed to treat people with personalised benefits and exclusive discounts at the garden centre and its caf?, as well as at a number of other places in the area.
Millbrook Garden Centre is a family-run, independent garden centre. It provides customers with a wide range of quality plants, shrubs, trees, furniture, barbecues, gifts and food items.
Its friendly and knowledgeable staff are on-hand to give visitors help and advice on all gardening matters. Millbrook Garden Centre has its own nursery, where it grows a third of the plants sold at the centre in an attempt to reduce plant miles.
The Greencaf?, which seats up to 90 customers, serves hot and cold drinks, snacks, breakfasts and light lunches, Sunday roasts and children?s meals using fresh, seasonal produce some of which is grown at the centre.
The Rose Festival takes place from Wednesday, June 18 until Sunday, June 29 during normal garden centre opening hours. A representative from Whartons Roses will be giving a free talk on Saturday, June 21 at 2pm.
