A Knockholt garden centre has sustained nearly ?30,000 worth of damage after a fire broke out in an outbuilding in the early hours of this morning.
Firefighters were called to the blaze at Coolings, Rushmore Hill, at 12.30am where it?took three hours to tackle the flames.
The woodshed and its contents, including a forklift truck, and an outdoor room used for children?s events, have been razed to the ground.
Fortunately the fire was limited to a small area offside from the main nursery so there was no danger to any people or any of the nursery?s Nature Trail animals.
Three fire engines attended the scene and crews used two jets and a hose reel to extinguish the blaze and were damping down hotspots until 3.30am.
Paul Cooling, owner, said: ?There is no really dramatic damage ? it?s an inconvenience more than anything.
?There is no sign of any damage when visiting the Nature Trail and it is very much a case of business?as usual.
?We are very grateful to neighbours for being so vigilant and alerting us to the fire.?
Kent Fire and Rescue investigation unit is returning to the garden centre today to try to establish how the fire started.
