Tom Shelston is joining the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Leadership Team as Director of Members & Marketing. In his new role Tom?s responsibilities will include marketing RHS Gardens and Shows, including the world-famous RHS Chelsea Flower Show, growing RHS membership and overseeing RHS Garden Holidays and corporate partnerships.
For the last three years Tom has been Members & Donors Director for the National Trust. In this role, as part of the Trust?s strategic leadership community, Tom has contributed to the overall development of the organisation, and has been responsible for connecting more than 4 million members and donors with the places the National Trust looks after. In his career Tom has been Head of Marketing at Everton Football Club and he has also held a range of marketing roles at McDonald?s Restaurants.

He brings with him a great mix of charitable and commercial experience and will play an integral part in leading the RHS and ensuring we deliver our plans to enrich people?s lives through growing plants and horticulture. Tom joins us at an exciting time, as we embark on our 10-year commitment to invest ?100 million in the future of horticulture and commence major new projects, including finding a fifth RHS Garden, creating the first RHS Urban Garden and increasing horticultural spectacle in our current gardens.?

Tom will join the RHS on 9 February 2015, heading up the Members & Marketing division, which is responsible for delivering more than 2 million visitors to RHS Shows and Gardens, managing and increasing the Society?s 426,000-strong membership, and securing and managing corporate partnerships. Tom?s team also delivers RHS Garden Holidays, which offer some of the finest horticulturally themed holidays around the world, the RHS award-winning members? magazine The Garden and a whole raft of publishing. The Members & Marketing division also manages the charity?s Horticultural Halls in London.
