Former RHS head of operations in theft scandal

The former head of operations at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has been charged with theft.

Stuart Medhurst has been accused of conspiring to steal just under ?700,000 over a period of a decade.

Medhurst, who appeared in Westminster Magistrates Court on Wednesday 28 January, is alleged to have been using his position to buy goods worth ?43,000 for himself between 2007 and 2014.

Also while working for the RHS, Medhurst allegedly syphoned off funds to two accomplices. Shaheen Kadri and Elaine Summers were also in the dock, accused of receiving ?317,110 and ?360,859, respectively. Medhurst is reported to have dealt these funds to the accomplices between January 2004 and January last year.
