Frosts Garden Centre Chilli festival hots up the atmosphere

Things will really be hotting up in Willington this weekend when an annual chilli festival is held.

The Frosts Garden Centre festival is taking place on Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17 with a line-up including 30 stalls, musical entertainment, a free children?s chilli hunt and a chilli sauce making competition.

On Saturday there will be performances from Mariachi Los Charros, a traditional Mexican Mariachi band, and on Sunday Los Musicos will be entertaining crowds with their Latin music.

Plus Frosts is calling all amateur chefs to take part in its chilli recipe competition ? the search is on for the finest homemade chilli sauces, chutneys, jams and pickles, to win a scorching ?50 prize and the prestigious title of 2014 Chilli Recipe Champion for Frosts at Willington.

Visitors will also be able to see and purchase over 25 varieties of chilli plant including Bhut Jolokia, Trinidad Scorpion, Morouga Red, Cornish Naga, Brain Strain and Scotch Bonnet, with experts on hand to give advice.

James Frost, managing director at Frosts, said: ?The chilli festival started as a very small event five years ago and it has now become a very popular attraction and continues to grow each year. This year will be fantastic and we are confident it will blow the roof off! People can spend as long as they like soaking up our live music while perusing our vast range of chilli products, plus this year we have lots more for children to get involved with.?
