Garden centre celebrates first birthday with new on-site nursery
David’s Garden Centre by Cherry Lane in Worcester, is celebrating its first birthday with a new on-site nursery.
The nursery is one of three operations within Cherry Lane group which grows plants and shrubs for the Group’s ‘Grown By Us’ range.
The addition has created three new jobs, with staff already growing more than 17,000 plants for the new gardening season.
David’s by Cherry Lane employs 33 people. Nine seasonal temporary staff are now preparing for the gardening season.
Cherry Lane acquired David’s in early May 2018. Since then, it has made many alterations and upgrades to the garden centre.
These include improvements to the main undercover plant area. Tarmac has gone down, and new polytunnels and 100 new plant benches added.
Sarah Battrick, manager at David’s said: “We’re delighted to open the new nursery in time for our first birthday.
“Grown By Us is a fantastic opportunity for us to nurture and provide high quality British plants. Not only for customers here at David’s but at other Cherry Lane centres too.
“Over the past year, the team at David’s has been working to improve our garden centre and enhance shopping experience.
“We can’t wait to show customers around our new look garden centre, they will be amazed at the transformation.

Cherry Lane Garden Centres is the country’s eighth biggest garden retailer.
The family-owned business has garden centres throughout East Anglia, Yorkshire and the Midlands.
