Four ladies from Spalding were the winners of this year?s Spalding in Bloom Best Front Garden Competition.
The winners received their prizes at a presentation by Geoff Hoare, of the Spalding In Bloom committee and last year?s winner, Terry Wing, at the Bulb Museum at Birchgrove Garden Centre.
George Slinger of Birchgrove Garden Centre said: ?It was a splendid occasion.
?We had a nice little presentation of the awards, watched by friends and family of the winners and then had refreshments and a good chat.?
First place was awarded to Clare Willson, second awarded to Mrs A Dearnley with joint third going to Shirley Hollis and Mrs Howell.
All winners received vouchers to spend at the garden centre, ranging from ?50 for the winner, ?25 for second place and ?10 for third place.
However, Mr Slinger was so impressed with all of the entries he wanted to do more.
George said: ?We had ten entries and I was so impressed that I decided to send everyone else who entered a ?5 voucher to spend at the garden centre to thank them for making such an effort with their gardens.?
Clare Willson, who was awarded the first place trophy, said: ?I was really surprised when I found out that I had won – it was a lovely surprise though.
?I didn?t really do anything different to the garden, I just left it as it is, because we?ve had a couple of nice summers recently it is looking pretty good.?
Clare even has a special place to put her trophy.
She said: ?My trophy is sat next to a framed photo of me and my idol Alan Titchmarsh.
?Gardening is a passion of mine and going into the garden is where I find my solace.
?My mum and my gran passed away last year and they were passionate about gardening too so it is nice to do something with them in mind.?
Clare?s garden has found fame, and she often spots people taking photographs of it.
?I get a lot of people taking photographs but I also have some people ask if they can have a walk around, which is nice too!?
