Gardman ?break ground? on purpose built warehouse facility

by | Mar 10, 2017 | News | 0 comments

The UK?s leading provider of gardening and wild bird care products, continues to implement its growth strategy throughout 2017 and beyond.

After undertaking a 12 month review of its current operations it has taken the decision to consolidate and relocate its warehouse facilities in the Kings Lynn to a single, purpose built, 415k sq ft site in Daventry, Northamptonshire.

The current facilities in Kings Lynn are ageing and inefficient to run and presently do not have the capacity to support the current business needs nor accommodate the future growth aspirations, this has a direct impact on the businesses ability to operate efficiently and retain a competitive edge.

The review considered various options which included new warehousing within the Kings Lynn area but was unable to identify suitable alternative sites.? A Daventry location will enable Gardman to work more efficiently due to being based closer to its core customers.

Whilst this is an important step, Gardman are committed to protecting service levels to customers through the 2017 season, therefore Gardmans seasonal stock intake is well advanced and will continue to build over the coming weeks ensuring coverage through the significant peak period and throughout 2017.

The new facility is due to be handed over in Q3 2017 and during the handover process both operations will run concurrently to ensure a smooth transition.

CEO Peter Utting said: ?This is a very significant investment in our business, supported by Rutland Partners, and reiterates our commitment to the gardening industry and to support the growth of our customers.?

The initial stage of the build is underway, with on-site construction already commenced.? In addition to new warehouse space, the facility will include a customer centre providing the ability to showcase our entire product range in a central location.
