Halloween pumpkins sold at Howden garden centre help fight cancer

Pumpkins sold at Howden garden centre California Gardens this autumn will help raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Employee Herbert Clark has grown the pumpkins, many of which vary in size and colour, which are now on sale at the centre.

Mr Clark, a long-standing employee, has grown a selection of pumpkins for the centre to sell as they try to raise ?500 for the charity.

A spokesman for California Gardens said: “This year we are donating the sale of every pumpkin sold to Cancer Research UK.

“Pumpkins will have a guide price from as little as ?3 for a decent football-sized pumpkin, ?4 for a white or cream pumpkin, with large ones costing ?5 or more.

“If California Gardens sell all the crop this year, over ?500 could be raised for Cancer Research UK.”
