HIllier to headline Gardener's World Spring Fair

Hillier Garden Centres and Nurseries has announced its return as headline sponsor of BBC Gardeners’ World Spring Fair, unveiling an ambitious new show garden that celebrates how outdoor spaces can be designed to suit different lifestyles, life stages and personalities.

Now in its sixth consecutive year as headline sponsor, the Hillier involvement at BBC Gardeners’ World Spring Fair reflects its long-standing commitment to inspiring gardeners of all experience levels, championing great design and sharing expert horticultural advice. Taking place from 1st to 3rd May, the event is particularly significant for Hillier as it returns to the beautiful grounds of Beaulieu, located in the company’s home county of Hampshire.

For this year’s event, Hillier has created a striking new garden concept designed as a neighbourhood of gardens arranged around a central feature of four doors. Each door opens onto a distinct garden space, inviting visitors on an immersive journey through four contrasting yet relatable outdoor environments. Together, the gardens show how thoughtful design can respond to the way people live today – reinforcing the idea that gardens are about people as much as plants.

The Family Garden is a hardworking, playful space designed to grow alongside its users. Featuring soft turf for play, raised vegetable beds and a rustic wigwam hideaway, it balances practicality with imagination. Resilient, family-friendly planting includes ornamental grasses, herbs and pollinator-friendly perennials, alongside a relaxed dining area that allows the garden to transition effortlessly from daytime play to evening gathering.

Designed for flexibility and instant impact, the Potted Garden shows how container planting can deliver colour, structure and creativity without the need for permanent borders or beds. Sculptural pots filled with vibrant blooms, textured foliage and aromatic herbs sit alongside a sociable seating area, making it ideal for busy lifestyles, renters or those new to gardening.

The Cottage Garden offers a timeless retreat inspired by traditional English planting. Roses, lupins and digitalis are woven through wildlife-friendly borders, complemented by acers, terracotta pots and bird feeding features. Designed for gentle enjoyment, it celebrates seasonal change and the quieter pleasures of gardening.

Completing the quartet is the Urban Jungle Garden, a contemporary escape rich in layered greenery. Architectural planting, including acers, banana plants, fatsias and ferns, surround a sunken seating area to create a calm, immersive sanctuary. Low maintenance by design, it demonstrates how gardens can offer both style and serenity.

Together, the four gardens form a vibrant neighbourhood that reflects the diversity of today’s gardeners – from families and professionals to traditionalists and design-led plant lovers – offering inspiration for every type of outdoor space.

Carl Milton, Retail Director at Hillier, commented: “BBC Gardeners’ World Spring Fair is always a highlight in our calendar, and we’re delighted to return as headline sponsor once again. This year’s show garden reflects the Hillier commitment to creating gardens that work for real lives, offering inspiration for gardeners at every stage.”

Alongside the show garden, Hillier invites visitors to enjoy the full Hillier Experience, combining expert gardening advice, an onsite shop showcasing Hillier-grown, peat-free plants, and stage appearances from the Hillier horticultural specialists. Visitors will also have the opportunity to sign up to the Hillier Gardening Club, unlocking exclusive offers, expert tips and seasonal inspiration.

BBC Gardeners’ World Spring Fair takes place from 1st to 3rd May at Beaulieu. Tickets are available from www.bbcgardenersworldlive.com/spring-fair/.
