Entries have been coming in for the New Plant Awards, to be awarded at this year?s HTA National Plant Show, which takes place at Stoneleigh Park on 23rd and 24th of June.
The awards are sponsored by the Royal Horticultural Society, and include five categories, including annuals, herbaceous perennials, house plants, trees and conifers, and shrubs and climbers.
Judges for this year?s awards include HTA President Stan Green, Colin Dale from Notcutts, Marc Rosenberg from Amateur Gardening, Jim Gardiner from the RHS and Mark Heath, trials manager at the RHS.
The award winners will be announced and presented by the judging panel on the morning of Tuesday 23 June. According to the HTA, they will be selected: ?for the quality of plant, suitability for the market and whether it is an improvement on other plants currently available?. All entries and winners will be displayed in the new plant area for visitors to see, and will also be entered into the ?visitor vote?.
Last year Darby Nursery Stock and Fairweather?s Nursery won best in show with Trollius ?Dancing Flame?, with Mini Cherry ?Cinderella? from Blackmoor Nurseries winning visitors? best new plant.
