HTA Seasonal Plants Focus: Lobbying for plants

Raoul Curtis-Machin, HTA Head of Horticulture will ask ?What?s in a name?? at next week?s HTA Seasonal Plants Focus conference, which takes place on Thursday 21 November at Young Plants Ltd, Stratford Upon Avon.

Proposed EU legislation could require individual botanical descriptions for every named plant variety on sale at a potential cost of hundreds of millions to the industry. Raoul will give an insight into industry lobbying work on this subject and the HTA?s efforts on behalf of UK horticulture to ensure a common sense approach is taken.

With less than a week to go, there is still time to book your place and hear from a top line up of industry speakers including Graham Dunn, Managing Director of Cresco Horticulture; Nigel Judd, Head of Wholesale at Thompson and Morgan; Steve Jones, Executive Director, at ReSharpen and Nicky Roeber, Plant Buyer at The Garden Centre Group.

The theme for the conference, supported by headline partner Bulrush, and associate partners Floramedia and Young Plants Ltd is ?Collaborate, innovate and succeed?. The event brings a wealth of industry experts together to discuss and debate the latest issues affecting seasonal and bedding plant growers and retailers.

Delegates can also take advantage of a networking dinner that will take place the night before (Wednesday 20 November) at the Alveston Manor Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon, and features an after-dinner talk on how the industry?s golden age is yet to come by Boyd Douglas-Davies, Chief Executive of The Hillview Group.
