Josh McBain to speak on the evolving retail environment at HTA Garden Futures

The retail environment is set to evolve in response to the rise of multichannel shopping. Josh McBain, the Future Foundation, will be exploring this concept in his talk ?Retail 2020+? at the HTA Garden Futures Conference that takes place on 17 October 2013 at One Great George Street, London.

Highlighting the importance of multichannel retailing now and how it will become an integral part of garden retailing in the future, Josh will showcase the changing landscape of purchase behaviour in the UK as a result of the rise of online and mobile shopping.

He will discuss the current retail trends and consumer expectations that will remain important over the next decade, what he calls the constants, followed by the emerging trends which will increasingly shape the future retail environment in the UK.?Josh will particularly focus on how bricks and mortar retailers are responding to the success of e-commerce and the emergence of m-commerce. This will include a story on how the physical retail space is being transformed into a leisure destination in its own right (with in-store events, a wide variety of concierge services, increased expertise amongst staff, self-service innovations and more bespoke offerings for the clientele) in order to survive as a viable retail channel.

Delegates can also look forward to seeing a number of ideas that depict the future retail environment and how Future Foundation sees the retail world evolving by 2020 and beyond.

Josh is one of the many impressive speakers at the event which is sponsored by Bord na Mona, Hozelock and Scotts Miracle-Gro, and includes talks from Mark Palmer, Managing Director of High Street catering chain, Pret a Manger and botanist, presenter and grower James Wong, and Pepijn Janssen from Store Performance Group.

The Garden Futures dinner takes place on the evening of 16 October at One Great George Street, London, with after dinner entertainment provided by Andy McIndoe from Hilliers.
