Kimbolton Fireworks: Serving Garden Centres with a Heritage Brand

by | Jun 27, 2023 | Features, Highlight, Promotions | 0 comments

Trusted Heritage and New Ownership
Kimbolton Fireworks has always been a trusted brand of consumer fireworks and a gem of the UK firework industry.  Its reputation received a significant boost in 2022 under the new ownership of Celtic Fireworks Ltd  – one of the largest firework importers and wholesalers in the UK.  This solidified Kimbolton Fireworks as a reliable choice for consumers and provides an exciting new platform for the future of the brand.

Product Range for Garden Centres
Kimbolton Fireworks offers a range of products ideally suited to Garden Centre retailers – from traditional Selection Boxes to impressive rockets and all-in-one Single Ignition Displays, a diverse catalogue that caters for a wide variety of customer preferences.  Kimbolton Fireworks products are tastefully packaged and carry classic names, while their manufacturing takes place in some of the industry’s finest factories.

Promoting Safe and Responsible Use
We bring new products to the market every year, many of which answer the call for lower noise products.  Kimbolton Fireworks recognises the importance of promoting the safe and responsible use of fireworks.  We actively work towards raising awareness of firework laws and educating end-users about the potential nuisance they could cause.

Rigorous Testing and Certification
All Kimbolton Fireworks undergo thorough testing before receiving CE/UKCA marks and obtaining the necessary certificates for storage and transportation.  Kimbolton Fireworks is not a discount brand and our suggested pricing offers a compelling margin for retailers while offering a high-quality and high-performance product to the end-user.

Selling Fireworks at Garden Centres:
Selling fireworks at your Garden Centre may seem like a daunting prospect, but there are usually just a few key steps required before placing a wholesale order for fireworks:

  1. Storage Area: Retailers must prepare a safe, secure, dry, and approved (see item 2) storage area to hold fireworks on their premises.  Commonly, businesses utilise shipping containers or similar lockable compartments for this purpose.
  1. Explosives Storage Licence: Obtaining an explosives storage license is essential, and the issuing authority varies depending on location (Trading Standards or the Fire Service).  Retailers should consult their local council for guidance.  The licensing body will establish storage limits and may conduct inspections as part of the approval process.
  1. Fireworks Selling Licence (not always required): To sell fireworks outside of the traditional periods (Bonfire Night, New Year’s Eve, Diwali, and Chinese New Year), retailers need to apply for a year-round fireworks selling license.  The demand for fireworks to celebrate other events, such as Eid, Holi Festival, Weddings, Gender Reveal Parties, Birthdays etc, has been increasing.  Useful government guidance can be found at https://www.gov.uk/fireworks-manufacture-registration

Supplying Garden Centres:
Before supplying any retailer with the Kimbolton Fireworks Trade List we will ask to see a copy of a valid storage licence – this ensures we are only supplying bona fide organisations with suitable provisions in place.

We also manufacture inert shop dummies for our products which we can supply to you for display purposes, alongside access to various point-of-sale materials – videos, product images, barcodes and, QR codes, posters and banners.  We are on hand to provide advice and guidance on choosing the right products for your business.

If you would like to discuss the possibility of stocking the Kimbolton Fireworks range, or just to let us know you have started the process of obtaining the licences mentioned, please contact us using sales@kfretail.co.uk or call Kevin on 07870 187502.
