Meet the buyer event with the range – another triumph for BHETA

June 17th saw members of The British Home Enhancement Trade Association (BHETA) from garden, DIY and housewares sectors enjoying 70 appointments with buyers from leading home and garden retailer, The Range at the seventh ?MTB? event in BHETA?s very popular series. Buyers from The Range, representing the store?s 65,000? product portfolio and 16 departments including DIY, Homewares, Furniture, Lighting, Arts & Crafts and Garden were looking to source products or promotions suitable for The Range?s mid-price but stylish home, leisure and garden strategy, which they had not seen before. The event took place at The Future Inn Hotel in Plymouth International Business Park.

New and existing The Range suppliers attended and were allocated twenty minute appointments to present innovative products capable of delivering high volume sales at competitive prices and /or complementing existing product ranges. Commenting on the event, Jim Chadwick of The Range said, ?All the buyers found it a productive day, particularly where suppliers crossed over categories and it allowed a more complete view of their offers. We found some good new products and will look to make it an annual event.?

Max Burnham, Director Of Sales & Marketing at Mykal Industries praised the MTB format in general: “?Meet The Buyer? is something we now sign up for regularly. It works on a number of levels for us especially as our De-Solv-it specialist cleaning portfolio crosses over in to a number of different categories and being able to meet three buyers within two hours could be a logistical nightmare to organise without this kind of event.?

Andrew Kersey, Key Account Manager at Half Moon Bay agreed.?I found the event very useful as it gave me the perfect chance to get in front of the right buyer, something which can be quite difficult these days. Trade shows are fine for creating general interest, but when you need to speak face to face with no distractions a meeting is essential and this kind of event is a really good way to introduce yourself to a new retailer. The 20 minute time slot really focuses both parties on USPs and I would recommend MTB to any supplier.?

BHETA?s Housewares Sector Director, William Jones commented, ?The Range product offering embraces everything that BHETA members have to offer, so this was a very exciting opportunity for home improvement and home enhancement members alike.? Home improvement sector director, Peter Stone added, ?The Range has shown tremendous growth in the past few years and our winning Meet The Buyer formula certainly proved a success in terms of opening new conversations and even securing listings on the day. I can honestly say that these events really are of benefit not only to suppliers but equally to our retail partners.?
