A team of staff members from Millbrook Garden Company are all set to walk between two of their Garden Centres, from Millbrook, Crowborough in East Sussex to Millbrook, Gravesend in Kent this September.
The team consists of 10 members of staff who will?undertake the 46 mile walk over 2 days – Friday 19th and Saturday 20th September.? Some are planning to walk the whole route whilst others will be doing part of the route, completing it as a relay with other team members.
The aim of the challenge is to raise money for the Company?s chosen Charity ChYps (Children and Young Peoples Service- part of EllenorLions Hospice Care) with a fundraising target of ?4,000 which equates to the cost of running the hospice at home service for just one day.
Millbrook at Crowborough was the original Garden Centre in the Millbrook stable, Millbrook owners, Dick and Sue Allen bought the Gravesend site in 1994 and realised that it would be possible to walk between the sites using part of the Weald Way but nobody has taken up the challenge until now.
Liz Dowling, the Millbrook team member who has come up with the idea said, ?although it will be a tough couple of days, we are all up for the challenge.? When we heard how much it costs to offer the hospice at home service for just one day, it made us determined to raise more money?
ChYps is part of EllenorLions Hospices offering 24hour palliative and end of life care to children and young adults in their own home.? This means that the young patient can stay with their parents and siblings enabling families to be together through incredibly difficult times.
The Millbrook team are busy training (and buying blister plasters!) to make sure that they can complete the challenge.? If you feel that you would like to help them raise money for this worthy cause, please make your donation on the just giving page at : https://www.justgiving.com/Millbrook-Garden-Company/
