New food store chosen over garden centre for Maldon
Another new food store is planned for Maldon, in favour of a garden centre that was initially planned.
Aquila was granted permission to redevelop the Brooks Brothers timber yard in The Causeway, Maldon, in April 2012, including a garden centre, large retail units, a 57-bedroom hotel and a restaurant, creating 160 jobs.
But it has now dropped the garden centre and wants to build a food store. The planned retail units will be non-food.
In separate plans, Lidl wants to build a shop off Station Road, as revealed in the Standard last month.
