A North-east garden centre is celebrating being named one of the best in the UK.?The Mains of Drum has been placed in the top three in Britain, after winning Best in Scotland late last year.

Staff at the centre had been waiting nervously since the announcement of the Scotland-wide award for confirmation of the UK accolade.

Being selected within the top 10 centres in the country means that the Garden Centre Association (GCA) recognise Mains of Drum as a ?Garden Centre of Excellence?.

The GCA said: ?The winners of our Garden Centres of Excellence awards have all showed that they are dilligent, committed, enthusiastic and hardworking and are a credit to the horticultural industry.?

The winners were announced at the GCA?s 52nd annual conference in Stratford-upon-Avon, where Mains of Drum were crowned along with nine other winners.

The centre heralded the win as an ?incredible achievement.?
