Plan to demolish garden centre & build new homes rejected

PLANS for five new houses to be built on the site of a former garden centre have been refused.

North Lincolnshire Council?s planning committee refused the planning application for the site in Sandtoft Road in Belton.

The reasons given were that ?the site lies outside of a defined settlement in the open countryside and is located in an unsustainable location remote from local services and public transport?.

Council officials also stated that ?it had not been sufficiently demonstrated that there are no available sites in the local area at a lower risk of flooding that could accommodate the development?.

Plans also included the demolition of the former garden centre on the site.
