The owner of a garden centre which was involved in a long-standing planning dispute with Wokingham borough council has applied for permission to use the land as a retail space.?
Rob Scott, who owns Hare Hatch Sheeplands in London Road, near Wargrave, was hit by an enforcement notice from the borough council in 2012.
The council had claimed that Mr Scott was using green belt land to display and sell conservatories and greenhouses and had extended the caf? and children?s play area.
Mr Scott had originally planned to appeal the notice, claiming that if the enforcement action went ahead he would have to close the business with the loss of up to 100 jobs.
He withdrew his appeal in April after reaching a compromise with the council and will now seek retrospective planning permission for the buildings in question.
He is applying for permission on the grounds that the use of the land for retail began more than 10 years ago.
A decision will be made next month.
