Prosper and Yorkshire Garden Centres part ways

Prosper, a leading buying group committed to supporting enterprise and growth within our industry, announces the departure of YGC, effective 30th September 2024.

Terry Head Retail Director of Stewarts and Chairman of Prosper, stated, “YGC has been a supportive contributor of the group, and their dedication and efforts have enhanced our collective success. We are appreciative of their commitment and the positive impact they have had during their time with us, and we wish them much success in the future.

Prosper will continue to work closely with our valued suppliers, ensuring that our collaborative efforts remain strong and fruitful for all. We are also excited about the prospect of potentially strengthening our group with new members who align with Prosper’s values.”

Prospers current members are Aylett Nurseries, Barton Grange, Cowells, Chessington Garden Centre, Knights Garden Centres, Perrywood Garden Centres, Stewarts and St.Peters.

In addition, Terry also said “ I am very pleased to announce that Simon Bourne Director of Perrywood has accepted a new role within Prosper, as Vice Chairman. We are confident that the introduction of the Vice Chairman position will enable us to better serve our members and achieve our long-term goals.”

From Prosper to Tillington

Yesterday, it was announced that Yorkshire Garden Centres will be joining the Tillington Group.

Mark Farnsworth, Managing Director of Yorkshire Garden Centres, said: “This is a very exciting opportunity for our business, although we have very mixed emotions as we are very sorry to be leaving the Prosper Group.

“We are very grateful to everyone in the Prosper Group who has made us so welcome over the last year and we wish them all the very best for the future.  However, we have been a long time admirer of the Tillington Group and when the opportunity arose to join, it was an opportunity that we could not turn down.

“The Tillington Group is extremely well established and we felt that, at this stage, they would be better placed to offer us the support that we need to continue to profitably grow our business.  We are very excited about this opportunity and look forward to working with and learning from all the Tillington members.”
