Provost backs garden centre in national award vote

Scots garden centre bosses have won the support of their local Provost in a bid to win a top national award.?Inverclyde Provost Robert Moran is supporting Cardwell Garden Centre in the inaugural Scottish Outdoor and Leisure Awards.

Cardwell, near Gourock, has been nominated for the best garden centre category and the public will choose the winner.

Provost Robert Moran said: ?Being nominated for this national award is fantastic recognition for Cardwell Garden Centre and Inverclyde as a retail and leisure destination.

?Undoubtedly, Cardwell is one of the area?s best-known and most successful businesses and the management and staff there deserve to win this award.

?That?s why I?m urging everyone to vote for Cardwell in these awards.

?If we can get voting and make sure Cardwell wins, it will be a great way to promote not only the garden centre, but Inverclyde as a whole.

?We have some great attractions for people living in Inverclyde, as well as visitors from outwith the area and Cardwell Garden Centre is certainly one of them.

?So, my message is quite clear and that is Vote for Cardwell Garden Centre ? it?s bloomin? great!?

People can vote online at www.outdoorleisureawards.co.uk/vote until the September 30 closing date.

Cardwell is a family-run business and has operated in Inverclyde for more than 50 years. The centre?s retail manager, Paul Carmichael said: ?It?s fantastic that we?ve been nominated for this award and we really appreciate the support we?ve had from Provost Moran and many local people.

?It not only shows that Cardwell is a popular retail and leisure attraction for locals, but many people from outside the area also come to visit us.

?That can only be good for Inverclyde as a whole if we?re attracting people to the area, as once they?re here, they might spend more time and money at other shops and attractions locally.

?If anyone has ever enjoyed a visit to Cardwell either for advice on all things gardening, to buy plants or equipment and tools, have a browse round our retailers, or even just for a nice cup of tea and a bun in our Patio Restaurant, I would urge them to vote for us in the awards.

?Let?s put Cardwell and Inverclyde on the map and we can all share in the success of winning one of the ?Oscars? of the leisure and outdoor sector.?
