Rescue dog wins best in show at Hawley Garden Centre’s fun Dog Show

A rescue dog called ‘Rusty’ won ‘Best in Show’ at Hawley Garden Centre’s fun Dog Show, held today (Sunday 22nd June) in the grounds on Hawley Road.

Rusty (4) and owner Mrs Lorrell Byrne from Dartford beat off strong competition from over 40 dogs on the day. ‘Obi’, owned by Tylor Roberts from Bromley was placed second in the event.

The dog show, was first held at the Garden Centre on the Hawley Road in 2013 and ?returned for a second year due to popular demand.

Janice East, Owner of Hawley Garden Centre, established 32 years ago, said: “The show is very informal, it’s not a breeder’s show, it’s a show for people who love to have fun with their dogs. We had a great day and ?handed out some fantastic prizes from our favourite pet supplier.”

Other winners on the day included 7 year old Paige Massey (image below) from Eynsford who won ‘Best young handler’ with her dog ‘Summer’ and was placed 4th in ‘Best under 15 inches’.

The show was judged by Ms?Cheryl?Matton (32), a Kennel Club of Great Britain?judge?from Gravesend.

The show had ten categories:?

Best under 15 inches in height

Best over 15 inches in height

Best long haired

Best short haired

Dog?judge?would most like to take home!

Best Mover

Young Handler

Prettiest bitch

Most handsome dog

Wagiest tail
