RHS orchid extravaganza

Experience the beauty and glamour of orchids at a weekend-long orchid show at RHS Garden Harlow Carr. The show takes place on 8?9 August, between 10am and 4pm.

Run by the Harrogate Orchid Society, the two-day ?Orchids for Everyone? Show is an ideal opportunity to see beautiful displays of flowering orchids from all over the world. A mixture of species and hybrids ? including many unusual plants ? will be on display from three northern societies: Harrogate, Darlington and District and North of England.

Visitors will hear expert talks and watch demonstrations, including potting displays. There will be a chance to get one-to-one advice and tips on windowsill growing. The public will also be able to buy their own orchids to care for at home.

Paul Cook, curator at RHS Garden Harlow Carr, says: ?Growing and cultivating orchids is a real art form, and the show is a chance for visitors to see some stunning examples of unusual orchids as well as a selection of some more familiar sights all under one roof.

?They can also hear top tips on how to grow these elegant plants at home.?

Hilary Hobbs, chair of the Harrogate Orchid Society, said: “We?re delighted to once again be holding this popular weekend event at RHS Garden Harlow Carr.

?I?m sure visitors will enjoy the variety of orchids on show, particularly as many of the specimens can?t be found in shops or garden centres.?
