School through to finals of national green competition – ?1000 garden centre prize.

Long Sutton Primary School has reached the finals of a competition designed to find the growers of the future. The school is one of ten finalists in the Stewart Garden Schools Campaign where the winner gets ?1,100 to spend at their nearest garden centre.

Youngsters at the school in Dick Turpin Way, Long Sutton, were judged on how creative and inspired they were in using a garden kit worth ?400 to grow vegetables, using compost and an instruction booklet.

About 100 UK schools entered the competition and the winner will be announced in September.

Judge Pippa Greenwood from the BBC TV series Gardeners? World said: ?I thoroughly enjoyed looking through all the entries for the Stewart Garden School event.?
