Sir Gary Verity reopens Tong Garden Centre

After months of refurbishment work, Tong Garden Centre was officially reopened on Saturday 5 September with hundreds of well-wishers in attendance.

Welcome to Yorkshire Chief Executive Sir Gary Verity cut the ribbon to mark the relaunch of the garden centre.

Sir Gary said: ?I was delighted to open the Tong Garden Centre and meet the fantastic team of dedicated staff who are working tirelessly to turn it not only into a great place to shop and buy Yorkshire produce but also into a great tourist attraction for the region. Welcome to Yorkshire look forward to working with the team and seeing the centre go from strength to strength.?

School friends Mark Farnsworth and Tom Megginson bought the garden centre in May and have so far invested in an extended plant area, children?s adventure playground, new coffee shop and have introduced concessions such as Mountain Warehouse and Huddersfield business Bon March?.

Owner Mark Farnsworth was honoured that Sir Gary was able to mark the relaunch of Tong: ?Thanks to everyone who came to celebrate the relaunch with us. We were proud to hear Sir Gary congratulate the team at Tong for the transformation and looking forward to our bright future.?

Improvements to the garden centre continue with the relaunch of the refurbished restaurant later this month, and upcoming announcements for the New Tong?s Magical First Christmas.
