The Christchurch Local Committee in aid of Cancer Research UK has been selected as Charity of the Year for Stewarts Garden Centres.
The partnership was launched with a cream tea reception for all the Christchurch volunteers at Edward?s coffee shop at Stewarts near Christchurch. Last year saw the committee reach their ?500,000 milestone for Cancer Research UK. The volunteers also had the opportunity to meet the staff at Stewarts with whom they will be working over the coming year?s partnership.
Throughout this year Stewarts will hold fund raising events including the Easter Egg Hunt and hopefully a summer BBQ and ladies pamper night.
Anne Caines, Christchurch Committee chairman, said ?The work we do for Cancer Research UK as a committee is ongoing and we really appreciate this opportunity to hold fund raising activities with Stewarts throughout 2014.?
Shelley Davies, local fundraising manager for Dorset, added: ?Cancer Research UK has made enormous progress in the fight against cancer and continues to do so. However, we have only been able to do this thanks to the dedication and commitment of our Christchurch Committee volunteers and supporters such as Stewarts, without whom we would not be able to fund our vital research.?
