Solid fuel briquettes, the Irish market?s main source of domestic fuel have been launched into the UK retail market by Bord na M?na, Ireland?s largest producer.? They are a great alternative to the more traditional coal and wood, giving strong margins for the retailer.
Suitable for open fires and all winter and summer solid fuel appliances including wood burners, stoves, chimineas and bbqs, briquettes offer high heat output and long burn times.? They are also much more conveniently packed than traditional solid fuels and therefore easier to purchase and store for the consumer than the alternatives.? The briquettes are marketed unwrapped strapped in 12kg packs with an rrp of ?5.99.? There is also an individually wrapped alternative for even easier consumer handling.
From a retail point of view, briquettes not only have great consumer appeal, they are great to handle in retail being clean and easy to stack neatly in store.? Retailers can expect to make great margins on this product, upwards of 54% dependent on order volumes, with order quantities being as little as one pallet.
Explains Steve Harper, Head of Consumer UK for Bord na M?na UK, ?Briquettes are a great new opportunity in UK fuel retail and these have the benefit of Bord na M?na branding with all its credibility, scale and reliability of supply.?
