Trelawney Wadebridge chooses its Charity of the Year

A CORNWALL garden centre has this month (May, 2014) selected its Charity of the Year.

Trelawney Garden Leisure in Sladesbridge near Wadebridge will be supporting FLEET (Front Line Emergency Equipment Trust) for the next 12 months.

Norman Trebilcock, General Manager at FLEET, said: ?We?re thrilled that the garden centre has chosen to support us during the next 12 months. We have worked with the staff there on a number of fundraising events in the past so we are really looking forward to doing more together in the coming year.

?We are currently working to provide a public access defibrillator for every town and village in Cornwall so any donations are very welcome and will go towards this.?

FLEET supports the emergency teams such as ambulances, coastguards and emergency helicopters in the Cornwall area. It has provided equipment for all ambulances in the county as well as initiated staff responders and provided equipment for community responder groups.

The charity, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in January 2015, was formed by the Cornish Ambulance Staff in 1990 and has so far spent ?1.5million of money raised on life-saving equipment.

David Danning, Director of Trelawney@Wadebridge, said: ?We decided to choose FLEET as our Charity of the Year because we are aware of the amount of great work it does in the area.

?It is a lifeline for many people in need and we hope by working closely with the charity that we can help raise more money towards life-saving technology.?
