Veggie labels with QR codes help with GYO sales

Gardeners growing their own veggies this year (2014) can now use their mobile phones to help them get information on the plants they are buying thanks to one of the UK?s leading horticultural design and print companies.

Nurseries that use Floramedia labels can opt to include QR codes on them so that consumers can use the technology to find out more about the plants at the garden centre before they buy them.

Nick Mathias, Managing Director of Floramedia, said: ?The QR code will be on the back of the label and it will link to Floramedia?s FloraLinQ service.

?A QR code is a type of two-dimensional bar first designed for the automotive industry. The system has become a popular media tool helping businesses engage with their customers instantly and directly via their smart phones or tablets. The QR code is reminiscent of a chess or checker board.

?Customers will be able to scan the QR code on the plant label with a smart phone and it will then link directly to the relevant plant web page, immediately adding a valuable marketing advantage to labels.

?Consumers can explore the companion plants and build up a favourites list, which can be shared with friends. FloraLinQ is extremely easy to use.?
