Ex-Wyevale boss in Homebase link

Former head of Wyevale, Nicholas Marshall, has expressed interest in acquiring Homebase.

Speaking to the Financial Times, he said that he was in talks with private equity groups about the situation, but as yet no approach had been made for the business. Homebase is the home improvement section of the Home Retail Group.

Speaking recently, Marshall said: ?Undoubtedly something has got to happen. It can?t just sit there treading water.?

Financial experts have suggested that the company could be worth several hundred million pounds, something which was also been reported in the FT. Its earnings have apparently been increasing following the appointment of former Tesco executive, Echo Lu.

Home Retail Group recently issued a profit warning, following issues with Argos, which is another one of its businesses. It has made no comment on any potential Homebase development.
