The RHS has promoted Matthew Pottage to curator of RHS Garden Wisley. Officially the youngest ever curator of the garden at 29 years old, Matthew is now responsible for all aspects of horticulture across ?one of the finest gardens in the world.?
Matthew has enjoyed a successful career at the RHS having joined as a trainee in autumn 2004. He was employed as a horticulturist at Wisley in 2007 where he rose to team leader, and completed his RHS Master of Horticulture qualification in 2010.
He has worked as deputy curator for Wisley since 2014 to work more closely with the RHS key investment projects, and has been pivotal in enabling some projects such as the newly landscaped garden arrival area. He has also brought new plantsmanship to Wisley through plantings such as the winter walk on Seven Acres and the foliage garden.
Matthew said: ?I am unbelievably thrilled and honoured to become curator at RHS Garden Wisley. It has been the RHS flagship garden for more than a hundred years and I?m excited to be taking the horticultural helm at such an important time for the garden.?
Around ?50m will be invested in key investment projects at Wisley over the coming years, and large-scale landscaping and horticultural innovation will be an integral part of the scheme.
